Tooth Trouble

When I first got this book I was thinking it is a bit long, however—I took the book. I also got another book in case it was too hard. However, it wasn’t hard. It only took 3 nights to finish.

Freddy is the only one in his class who hasn’t lost a tooth yet. So he has a problem. He wants to write his name on the big tooth poster at school. It isn’t an ordinary tooth, it is a big poster tooth. Every time you lose a tooth, you write your name on the poster with a special pen with a tooth on the end. The next day Freddy gets into a fight with Ben. Freddy wanted Ben to hit his mouth so that his tooth falls out. Freddy gets a fist to his stomach instead.

Should I tell you the ending? No—what about you find out by reading the book.

Book Review: Who Am I?

Who Am I?

I read a fascinating book called Who Am I? It is a diary of Mary Talence. It was so interesting.

Amy Charles was an Aborigine who was taken away and her name was changed to Mary Talence. She grew up in Bomaderry Aboriginal Children’s Home. She was there from 5–10 and was the oldest of her brothers and sisters. Then Matron Rose tells Mary she is going to a family in Sydney called the Binkes. But when she gets there she is surprised she is the only one with brown skin. She is teased and doesn’t understand why she doesn’t fit in.

I definitely recommend this book to people who love history. I give it a rating of 10/10. The best bit is the end for me but I am not going to ruin it.

I read a book called Dulcie and Dud and the Really Secret Secret. It was just plain weird!
The story is about two young children called Dulcie and Dud. The setting is mainly at school. They live in a town called Waddigong—it is a beautiful town but something fishy goes on every time I read this book!
I recommend this book to kids who want to know what happens next?! My favourite part is when people kept on asking “Who’s muriEl?” and Dulcie said “You’ll see!”
People who are in grade 1 to 4 would love this book. I’d give it five stars!

The story is about a boy called Percy. He finds out that he is a half blood—half god, half human—son of Poseidon, one of the big three.

After he gets expelled and survives an attack from the Mighty Minotaur, he gets taken to Camp Halfblood where he learns to sword battle with a mysterious boy called Luke, and shoot arrows with his used-to-be Latin teacher that’s now a centaur, Chioran. When Choiran tells him about Zeus’s stolen lightning, he is sent on a quest with his best friend, Grover, and half blood daughter of Athena, Annabeth, to retrieve it.

I absolutely love this book and recommend it to kids from 9 to 15. I think anyone who likes Harry  Potter will love this book!

Book Review: Jade McKade

I read a book called Jade McKade. It was a good book.

The story is about a little girl that didn’t want to go to school. She said all the way on the bus “I don’t want to go to school”. It is set in their house but it is also set at school. In the middle of the book, Jade gets the chickenpox.

I would recommend this book for people who don’t want to go to school! My favourite part was when her sister was teasing her. People from grade 1 to 5 would enjoy this book.

I give this book around about 4 to 5 stars.

I read a book called The Big Split. It was very interesting.

The book was about a family who splits up. So the kids, Holly and Faith, wagged a day of school. The setting is in the forest near a big waterfall.

I would recommend it for people who like to read about other people. I would give it a 9 out of 10 starts. My favourite part was when they tricked their mum into thinking that they were at school.

I would recommend it to year 2 and over.

Book Review: Hide That Horse

Over the next few days we are pleased to feature book reviews by some keen readers at Yidarra Catholic Primary School. Our first visitor is Sophie. Over to you, Sophie!

I read a book called Hide That Horse. It was written by David Metzenthen and illustrated by Leigh Hobbs. I thought it was so funny!

The main characters are Tim, Mr Conroy, and Percy the horse. The story is set in a park, with a great big bridge. Percy is a very small horse so he can hide behind bushes and camouflage with the play equipment. There is also a character called Ranger Dooley. Now, this ranger isn’t a very nice person because she doesn’t allow any farm animals or horses into her park!

I would highly recommend this book to kids between the age of 6 and 10. I personally rate this book 9/10. My favourite part was when Tim had to hide the horse under a branch.

Book Review: Button Boy

The book Button Boy was written and illustrated by Rebecca Young and Sue deGennaro. Button Boy is a fabulous book because it is about being helpful.

Button Boy is about a little boy called Banjo who loves to collect buttons. His grandma sews the buttons onto his jumper. Every day when he’s on his way to school he finds someone who has a missing button and he gives them one. Finally, he has only one button left. Banjo is a kind and giving boy.

We like the book because the pictures are very funny. The best thing about Button Boy is that the main character is a kind little boy. People who like collecting things would like this book. It would be good for boys or girls aged 5 to 8.

You should go and get this book now! It is great.
